    Today we watched a film called "Palestine is still the issue" (2002), made by John Pilger. This is a film that shows the reality of how the Palestinian people are being terribly treated and controlled by Israel. 

    Today we watched a clip about Palestinian children not being able to go home because of the "security barrier", then we did research on John Pilger and watched his film titled "Palestine is still the issue". At the beginning of the lesson, we watched a clip about Palestinian children getting stopped by the security gate. They were stopped because the Israeli soldiers were in a bad mood. The children have to walk 3~4 km to the military gate. When the child's mother asked the Israeli soldiers to open the gate, the Israeli soldier threatened the child's mother that he can arrest her anytime. Then we did research on John Pilger. He is an Australian journalist who writes stories about politics, and he is awarded many times. He is also a filmmaker, and he has made films about politics such as "Palestine is still the issue". He doesn't have much bias towards the Israel-Palestine conflict, so he is on Palestine's side. Then we watched "Palestine is still the issue" made by John Pilger. His film is on a video sharing platform called Vimeo, and there are many high-quality videos on this platform.

    In the first clip, I was shocked that the Israeli soldier called the Palestinian woman an "Animal". The Israeli soldier is abusing his power to threaten a Palestinian woman, and I thought that was a racist act. John Pilger's film was very shocking for me. Especially how Israeli soldiers destroy Palestinian offices. The scene when the Israeli soldiers were assaulting a Palestinian man was horrific. When the psychiatrist told Palestinian students to draw whatever that's in their mind, everybody drew something related to violence. That shows how abnormal the situation that the children are in. Ordinary children should draw what they like or what they want, but they don't do that because they are traumatized. 

    Today we have watched a film called "Palestine is still the issue" and I was horrified by how Israel is terrorising Palestinians. Recently, the leader of Israel has changed, so I hope there would be some good change in this conflict.

5/6 The Hobbit chapter 19

Chapter 19 - The Last Stage Bilbo was now at Rivendell.  He had not been home for over a year.  At Riverdell, he and Gandalf rested and told their stories to Elrond. Then Gandalf confesses where he had been when he was not with the dwarves. He was at the great council of the white wizards who had driven the Necromancer from Mirkwood. The Necromancer was actually Sauron, the evil lord that appears in "the Lord of the Rings" as the main antagonist. Then they left Rivendell. They went past the river where they were captured by three trolls and dug up the box of treasure they took from the trolls. Bilbo was surprised when he got back to his hobbit-hole. Bilbo was presumed dead, and his belongings were being sold at an auction. He stops the auction and gets his things back from other people, but he lost his reputation as a good hobbit. 5/6 The Hobbit chapter 18

Chapter 18 - The Return Journey When Bilbo became conscious again, he noticed that he was alone. He also noticed that his side has won the battle. A man came to the hill to find Bilbo, so Bilbo took off his ring and went to the camp where the people were waiting. Gandalf was happy to see Bilbo alive because Gandalf was worried that Bilbo was dead. However, there was bad news too; Thorin had a fatal injury and was dying. Thorin gave his last words to Bilbo. He said he will give some treasure to Bilbo and take back the words he had said to Bilbo. Of course, Bilbo told Thorin he wasn't angry at Thorin. Then Thorin said, "If more of us valued food and cheer and songs above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" and passed away. Bilbo turned away and wept; he had a kind soul.
