I have realized that the typical standard slideshows are actually very bad presentations. Firstly, we have to make the audience's attention focus on the people talking. So there is no meaning writing down the same thing on the slideshow when you are saying it. I have seen many people do this (I was doing this too) but when I think carefully, what is the point of doing that if you're only reading the slideshow? A presentation's focus should be on the talking. Therefore instead, we should use the slideshow as a supplementation. For example, we should use the slideshow to show pictures and graphs because we can't show them by just talking. Secondly, we should not put too much information in a slideshow. We tend to put many decorations in a slideshow, but I find this sometimes annoying. For example, a character in the corner distracts me from focusing on other information. Today we learned the tactics and skills for better effective slideshows. Firstly, to my surprise, there were tactics from the start of a presentation; the title page. I never thought I needed to grab the audience's attention from the title page. That means I never realised I have been making boring presentations from the start. Secondly,  looking at the attention graph, I thought the audiences were not listening during the important part when most of the information is presented. You can say that a normal lesson in school is a type of presentation and that this graph applies. So I think there should be something that will wake the audiences (students) during a lesson. Thirdly, I have learned the importance of the last "summary", "limitations" and "one more thing" pages. I think the Japanese education system does not accept new technology and when it does, it does not adopt it fast enough, or unnecessary rules are imposed upon it. Today we were told about the reality of Japanese universities restricting students sharing their Google websites or videos. I think this is because universities want to avoid all kind of risks, problems or complaints such as hacking, bullying and privacy.     I think Japanese schools should not impose rules about how people want to use their Google websites or videos because I think people should take responsibility for their own actions. Anyway, Japanese people are really careful about avoiding internet related troubles, for example, there are many people who do not show their real faces or names in Youtube videos. Therefore, I think there's no need for  Japanese schools to impose restrictions and instead, they should just accept new technology into their education system.  Within our groups...

I think Japan will fall behind in ICT education compared to other countries because ICT is not a main component in the Japanese school curriculum.  In my elementary school, the ICT lesson was too simple, for example, I learned how to search in search engines. Some schools don't even have ICT lessons. Even in our school, only 7th and 10th-grade students learn ICT/programming. In Syotoku Gakuen, every student can use iPads to search for information and communicate with other students via SNS. Of course, the students need self-management skills to use them appropriately. I think ICT lessons should be included in the compulsory education system and the teaching materials should be free or cheap. Learning outside the classroom was refreshing. The air was good, there was more light, I could loosen up my legs and it was spacious. However, there is not much space for students to walk around, and cars could come in so it could be dangerous.     Today we were told what project we are going to work on about changing the school environment.  We started by watching a video. I was very surprised when I found out that the typical Japanese schools' graveyard-style education system hadn't changed for decades. Then I remembered that when I studied in New Zealand during the summer holidays,  the local school had had blue carpets around the classroom and corridors, the desks were arranged into groups, there were many pictures on the wall and this created a relaxing atmosphere. Also, when I saw a picture of Fuji kindergarten in Tokyo, I thought the environment of the kindergarten was very suitable for studying efficiently.     One of the things I learned today was about how to make a good blog. To do that, firstly the first sentence in your paragraph should be a topic sentence. You write what you are going to say and what it's about. This helps the reader imagine and understand the content of the story better. Secondly, there should be three supporting statements/concepts. This is because generally, people prefer the number three. This is because, according to  https://www.copyblogger.com/rule-of-three/ , three is the smallest number to create a pattern, and the human brain is programmed to recognize patterns. Therefore, having three statements/concepts helps the reader remember them. Each statement/concept should have 2 to 3 sentences, having 8 to 11 sentences in a paragraph. Thirdly, there should be 2 to 3 paragraphs in a readable blog. Having too many or too few paragraphs make the blog incoherent and incohesive.       Today I created my own Blogger account for my class reflection blog. I didn't know that I could make a blog so easily. However, now that I know, I am starting to wonder if most of the blogs out on the Internet are appropriate or not for using them as sources (similar to Wikipedia).       I used my real name for my Blogger account this time. I thought it would be safe since I do not need to share my blogs publicly.       Also, I found out that there is a graph called "the forgetting curve" and according to that, if people do not review what they have learned, they will forget 25-40% of what they have learned after one day. However, if they review what they have learned, it will become easier to remember.
